Solve : Locked BIOS? |
|
Answer» Purchased "as is" laptop on eBay and the BIOS requests a password to ENTER setup. Also requests password to continue bootup. Will not boot from floppy and will not boot from CD-ROM. It is a DELL Inspiron 3200. Any expert advice out there for a NOVICE? THANK you!Hello MillerLarry. Suggest you contact Dell but don't hold out too much hope that they will come to your rescue, as you are not the original purchaser, without filling their coffers with your hard-earned. Any chance of getting help from the seller? tho' the seller might have bought it in the same condition and on-sold it for the same reason you are having problems with. Try a spcialised Dell forum, someone there might have more info. Sorry not to be of much help. Good luckHere's a LINK to the User Guide. Sometimes you get lucky. With a system BIOS password, sometimes not. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ptwist/ Heres a link to the Inspiron Forum AREA. Registration is free, just ask your question. http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums?category.id=inspironI knowingly purchased this unit but this is the first time with such a purchase that I have not been able to boot with a floppy or a CD drive...... Thanks muchly for the tips - I will try the Dell forum!Be sure and let us know the outcome! Laptops aren't my thing but can't you just pull it's cmos battery so it goes back to the bios defaults? |
