Answer» I checked the advice already posted, but can't find a solution...I have drivers for my computer video (graphic adapter) loaded on 2 different floppies, in case one was faulty. When I go to the advanced settings tab and point the download to the A drive, I get an error message...illegal operation. (I reloaded Windows 98 on IBM 300GLs-2 of them). How else can I get these installed? It won't update Internet EXPLORER until the video is UPDATED. (??) Thanks in advance, for any help.Hi
what about your other floppy?
you can also load the driver from certain sites.for that you need to note the version of your driver.
Go to your DEVICE manager and click display adapter and after selecting your video driver there go to properties driver --> update driver .
then point the exact location of your driver.
if it is a: drive , you will also need to point the exact folder location also like a:/win2k or like that.
after that restart pc and then right click desktop--> settings --> adjust your color. Thanks for responding. I tried both floppies in both computers. Neither one of them will allow any selection past A:. When I open the floppy, the symbol for the driver is there. Perhaps I should not save directly to the floppy. (?) Save to the hard drive, then the floppy.you can save it anywhere it is better to save it in other H drive like d: or E: because floppies can be damaged anytime.
you need to now your video driver's name (look at the label on that folder and then search in sites about that driver. you can download it ( follow the system requirement)
you can not load going directly to the floppy ... you have to go to device manager( as described earlier)Thanks. I will certainly try your suggestions in the morning and let you know the outcome. The computers are at school. I got the driver from the IBM site, so I'm relatively sure it's the right one for the IBM 300GL;but I will check to be sure.I was able to load the drivers. The floppies I was using had the driver DOWNLOADED from a Windows XP machine, and I was loading them on the Windows 98. Well, I found a Windows 98 machine and downloaded the driver, saved to the floppy, took it from the floppy to the problem computers' desktop and was able to launch and, using Device Manager, install the drivers. What a relief! Thanks for your helpful advice! Good advice, Shouvik, and welcome to the forum.
May i ask for what nation is the flag you are using as your avatar?
