Answer» I didn't whether to put this topic here or in the "Virus and Malware" area. I am trying not to get a virus or malware on my computer by installing one of the video downloaders or the like that they say I need to watch sports (hockey) live on my computer. It seems like every site I go to wants me to install some thing. I was wondering if any one knows of a site that doesn't require this or a safe video downloader/player to use. I keep SEEING "FLP" and have used one of them but that was a long time ago and can't remember which one I had. I have seen this a lot with people who have severed the connection to Cable or Satellite TV and want to view that same content over the internet. The networks/sites that host these feeds have interests involved and that interest is to make money. Some are better than others and just give you frequent commercials that sometimes can be blocked by ad-block plus in firefox browser etc and others fail to operate if the ad's have been killed off. While others need a player to join into the live feed and if you want to view them you need to install the player.
Unfortunately there is no way around the player plugin requirement of a site that requires it unless there is another site hosting the same content that doesnt need this player.
I have a USB Internet Radio device I bought about 5 years ago that has like 10,000 radio stations that stream around the world that I can listen to and back 5 years ago 95% of them worked with no players required and they played right through the browser. Lately though a good 30% of them require a player to be installed to listen to some that are in EUROPE or russia and I dont trust installing a player that is all in russian for example etc. You never know what your getting downloading from an unknown source.
Getting back to live video streams, some ISP's offer pay per view through internet browser for sports etc as well as some sports websites which require an account some of which require you to pay for the service will offer live sports, but they likely require a player to be installed to view the content.Installing a player plugin is not REALLY the problem, one plugin may COVER more than one site. It's getting some thing that puts unwanted things on my computer. I have been dealing with the "Flash Player Pro" problem this week and have learned that they are trying to imitate Adobe Flash Player to trick you into downloading it. I'm getting tired of chasing all this malware getting installed on my computer.I just tried one of those plugins and it put six things on my computer that I didn't want from speeding up my computer to downloading current drivers.
