Answer» Kind of an open ended question here how do yall feel about Lime Wire? and do you think it is safe to use? Beats me, I don't use those kind of programs. I've had my fair share of Edonkey and KAZAA (Lite) many years ago. Now I only use BitTorrent. also, never download a .MOV file. all they ever do is redirect you to an internet site.Oh cool, never new that, ive also noticed that .mov are most often porn. Oh and please, just call me Chris. I was thinking the same thing... Homer? what? lol, i dont know if EVERY .MOV file does it, but when i tried to download .MOV files, all they ever did was open up my web browser and redirect me to their site. it has been a looooooong time since i last downloaded a .MOV file, maybe that has changed. maybe chris or raptor could test my theory to see if i am correct.....I'm not going to indulge in spyware adventures. This PC couldnt get much worse, give me a day or two ChrisHello As everyone above said, you should never download .EXE files or .MOV files (and you shouldn't download .url files either) Many pictures and movies you will find may contain graphic porn. Its good to skip through the videos (preview them, if you can) be sure to watch the first part, some of the middle, and the end to make sure that it is only the video you want and nothing more. Also, when downloading music (preview if you can) make sure that the beginning, some of the middle, and the end are what you want. Many times, people insert extra music or even ads at the end of the song (sometimes because it was recorded from online radio stations) If you hear sudden very loud (some times high pitched) clicks (tweeks) you should PROBABLY look for a different version of the song, because that can be a sign of code alteration. remember: ALL files can contain viruses, (eg. .ZIP, .MOV, .JPG, .TXT, .BMP, .WMA ) no mater what the file type. Although its not common to get viruses in pictures, music, or text files, it is still possible. The best protection you have against these are ANTI virus scanners. A good FREE ANTIVIRUS scanner is Avast ( www.avast.com ) |
