My laptop HINGE cover on the left side broke off and now, a while later, there is a red laser this is on the edge of that hinge. It goes from bottom to top inside my laptop screen. What caused this and is it an easy fix?What do you mean "a red laser"? Do you know what a laser is?
It's a red line that is extremely THING, it runs up the inside of my laptop screen... Does that help you?!OK I'm with you now. A thin red line on a new LCD monitor means it needs returning as defective. It could mean you have a failed display driver chip on the motherboard or it it could be a problem with the flexible ribbon CABLE that LINKS the screen to the motherboard. It is probably a concidence that you broke the hinge cover on that side.
You need to take it to a repair shop for an estimate. How old is it?
