Answer» I RECENTLY upgraded to Windows 10 on my 3 year old laptop and it was running fine up until yesterday. When I shut it down it HANGS on a SCREEN with the dots that chase each other in a circle and stays there. I tried forcing shutdown by holding the power button but it just went to sleep. When I woke it again, none of the programs would open and neither would the start menu. I pressed the windows button and R and typed in "shutdown /s /t 5" but it says "no such interface supported". EVENTUALLY it shut down yesterday and worked fine after but has gone back to the same thing today.I got desperate and took out the battery. When it restarted it was loading updates. I'm hoping that this was the cause of the problem but I also turned off fast startup as this was RECOMMENDED elsewhere.
