Solve : KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE?

Answer»

Hi there, I've just got my new Dell XPS One up and running on Windows 8. I thought a TV Tuner might be nice, so ordered one from Dell at the same time. It's a WinFast Dongle Gold. I have installed it OK, but when I open it, my PC is not happy and shuts down for a restart, saying there a 'KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE'. Everything else is operating with no problems, so it's obviously that program it doesn't like.

Any suggestions WOULD be GRATEFULLY received. Thanks.Does it officialy support windows 8? Are there official drivers for it that run on windows 8?

It seems to be a DRIVER error, often caused by changes between MISMATCHED OS/driver target versions.

Do you have more details on the STOP code? (it should have 4 numbers in parentheses after the code somewhere; the first 0xsomething might give more insight into the cause of the crash.)Ah, now that's interesting! I would have assumed that as a Dell rep sold it to me it would be compatible. I will go and do a search and see if there's a newer driver.I have uninstalled and tried to reinstall it and it doesn't follow through to the end .... after 20 minutes it was still going.

I have uninstalled it again and tried to find a new driver for it and have come up with this one: http://drivers.downseeker.com/download/238273/leadtek-winfast-dtv-dongle-dual-device-driver-10.12.20.1/ , but there doesn't seem to have an .exe file in there and is only 56kb.

I'm a bit befuddled. The DISC I got with it says it is OK for Windows 7, but I have a brand new Windows 8 computer. I have Googled that and the link above is all I can find.Do you have a more specific model# for the device?

I recommend you get drivers from this page, NOT any other site (assuming I'm correct and this, Leadtek, is the manufacturer):
http://www.leadtek.com/eng/support/download.aspxI have been in to Leadtek and got a driver download, but a message popped up saying not to install this driver until you have installed the product. I have had to be elsewhere today, but will attack it again tomorrow. I joined the Leadtek forum, but have had no email back from them.

It's a curly one.

Thanks very much for your input TechnoGeek.
