Answer»

Hi all..just found this site whilst tryinf to rectify my problem......hope someone out there can be of assistance........

k,,here goes......

I have a laptop with interchangable cd drive/floppy drive.....so like a fool...i STICK a boot disc in the other day so as to format the THING......but can't reinstall XP.
When i switch back on none of the device drivers for the cd drive will load because i have the floppy drive in with the boot disc in......

any ideas greatly appreciated

Many thanksWhat KIND of bootdisk are you using/  Does it install a cdrom driver when you boot from it?i am using an old ME boot disc.....it has got the cd drivers on it but won't install them because the cd drive is not present when i boot.......i can only have one or the other(floppy or cd drive) present at a time......Hi webber,

is your laptop bootable from CD? U can go into BIOS settings n c if u can set boot device to CD-ROM.

WinXP cd is a bootable CD. If ur laptop can boot from CD-ROM, then just connect CD-ROM to laptop, place winXP CD in ur CD-ROM and boot up laptop.

Also there are many ways to create a bootable CD. U can google for it. U'll need a CD writer though.

CheersHave managed to get into the bios...(pheonix).......but there is no option to set boot device to cd rom......

is there anyway that i can copy the cd device drivers off the floppy, then quickly SWAP the floopy drive for the cd drive.

alternatively....i could just just screw a good bit of timber to it and make myself a nice 15 pound sledge hammer

many thanks to anyone who may be ABLE to offer more help
