It was a smart trojan that uploaded files it thought to be useful from your computer. Many companies have secretive info like projects whatever. Since it was more or less an update and not a virus you only had to uninstall the p2p software to get rid of it. And ofcourse only people with the specific p2p software could be affected. You get malware from downloads downloaded by the P2P software, not the P2P software itself.
