Solve : Install Linux or use Ultimate Boot CD??

Answer»

Hi all, i have a bum computer and i think that re-installing windows/Linux is the best option. I don't want to spend 100$ on a windows CD (the comp cost less) so i have decided to go with one of two options, but i don't know a whole lot about either. Anyways here are some questiosn i have for you computer guys.

This computer is used mostly for games/internet, is linux able to run games that windows can? Will the preformance suck on linux?

ULTIMATE Boot CD, looking over this item i think it might be what i need. Here is the link to the item (ebay) http://cgi.ebay.com/BOOT-DISK-CD-FOR-WINDOWS-LINUX-OVER-100-SYSTEM-TOOLS_W0QQitemZ280259453902QQihZ018QQcategoryZ67388QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Im just not sure if this will beable to FIX my computer... It has allot of features but i don't really know what to do with all the stuff.
thanks. No linux can't run the games windows can. if anything the performance will be BETTER under linux. You can download Linux distributions for free, if you give me a moment i shall FIND some links. http://www.osdisc.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi/index.html?ad=distrowatch UBUNTU is a good OS for people starting to use Linux

FBSo your saying you don't have a Windows CD ? ?

The UBCD is a diagnostic set of tools and not an OS.Yea i don't have the Windows CD but i thought i might beable to fix the issues using the UBCD.

If i can't play games on Linux then the comp has no use, so i guess that is out of the question now. What issues exactly ? ?I have another thread with all the details but basically it won't boot. It is not a cooling issue and not a hardware issue. Somthing is wrong with the BIOS as well- won't save changes (time/settings)
