have just set up aol 8.0 but aol cannot initialise my modem.Do you get an error message? What does it say? What operating system are you using? Also, does it try to dial out?

[glb]Flame[/glb]hi,i do not get an error message,the message i get is,cant detect a modem, im using windows 98 and 2000.have tried both with no luck,i'm a novice with PC,s dont YET understand the lingo,i do know that there is a modem in the pc                       thanks.

so you have aol........you have loaded the disk and made the choices given to you on it? .......silly question..what operating system and make of pc are you using... sorry for the crap RESPONSE to your woe.im using windows 98 and 2000,the pc is a packard bell 64mb ram.
         cheers leson boot up  les......what ever system you are using......win98/2k go to the my computer icon right click on it///now click the the device manager........you know where that is len.....scroll down the list and you will come the modem+ sign..click the modem...lucent/rockwell/conaxant/.......now remove it from the list........and reboot..........it should re-install the mod as a new irq......failing this you mayneed to UPDATE the modem.........dvrs..........hth  m_2 ok or a desparate measure is to remove the 56k modem for the tower pc/ and re-boot.......then re-install 56k card -modem....take CARE WHEN DOING THIS....*** Esd*** not pacemakerfriendy.......thanks will give it try when i have the time on monday.

,there is no modem listed,could you please explain how to update the modem drivers,there is a modem as i had a look inside the pc.

            leshave managed to find the modem name,it is mr2800datafax,
but it is not on the modem properties list.help!!!!!!!
