Answer» I install a Dvd DRIVE in my computer . I put the dvd drive as master on the second IDE and the cd-rom drive as SLAVE. The computer sees only the DVD- drive , not the cd-rom. then I switch the DVD- drive as slave and the CD-rom as master on the second IDE. Now the computer sees only the CD-rom and not the DVD - drive. I t does the same on the primary IDE .My computer is an IBM APTIVA, the operating system is WinXP.Did you CHANGE anything in the BIOS/setup? F1 on boot I believe. What does it show?How are the drives cabled ? ? The dvd being master should be at the end of the ribbon cable with the cd as slave in the MIDDLE connector of the ribbon cable. If this doesn't work replace that ribbon cable with a new one. If this also doesn't work change the jumper on the CD drive to CS leaving the DVD jumpered as master. patio.
