Answer» my old dell inspiron is ,out of date. I would like to purchase a new laptop but do not know what would be the most reliable.any suggestions would be appreciated.Well, there are many models on the market and the price range in wide. Can you give us a general idea of how much you would like to pay for it? Also, do you have a specific requirements, such as a laptop capable of playing the more demanding online, multi-player games?
If you needs are basically email, web-surfing, word processing, etc., you can get very adequate laptops for a very reasonable price, a low as $600 or less. Nearly all models, even at lower end of the price spectrum, now have at least 2GB of RAM, which is quite adequate for the type of usage just stated.
If you haven't used Windows Vista yet, get ready because that's what you'll be getting. The Home Premium version is offered on many laptops and PC's on the market and is a good choice for many users.Few days ago, I got this one:

this is what I am looking at right now Dell studio $969.00 plus tax want to burn cd's/DVD internet, whatch movies also run cubase le4 recording software via lexicon lamnda usb interface. opinions is this a good reliable deal. my last dell inspiron has run fine for 8 years. I've never owned a Dell but I imagine the one you mentioned is quite good. I just wonder whether you need some of the features and whether it's worth the $500+ price difference between it and the Compaq Broni bought. Do you need/want the built-in webcam, the FINGERPRINT SCANNER, and a Back-lit Keyboard (I'm not sure what that means)?
Also, are you sure a 64 bit OS is the best choice for you? I believe the software options for a 64 bit OS are still rather limited; in other words, many programs won't run on it. However, I see that cubase le4 recording software that you mentioned does work with either 32 bit or 64 bit SYSTEMS.web cam is included in price."No fingerprint scanner." 3 yr warranty, the backlite keypad was $25 as for the 64 vs 32 it also comes with the deal. What programs for instants will not run on 64 bit??? Ship me one and we'll call all our bets even...I didn't do anything thank you for the heads up on the 64 bit. Is this something that the industry is moving toward the future?I'm sure we'll see more and more software developers making their software capable of taking full advantage of 64 bit operating systems. It's still a fairly new arena, so it will take some time for more 64 bit programs to be developed. will upgrading to 64 be an easy option, for 32 bit users. It's simply a matter of installing that version of the Operating System. I have Vista Ultimate and it comes with both a 32 and 64 bit install DVD...
