Solve : how to make changes to boot up with multiple OS?

Answer»

I have both XP pro and Vista Home Premium on my tower. The hard drive with Vista was not working properly and I found some bad SECTORS. I replaced the hard drive with a new one. I did a CLEAN install with Vista Home Premium. Now when booting up I am seeing the following choices: earlier version of windows, Vista listed twice. How do I remove one of the Vista listings?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
FredH
Vista doesn't use boot.ini file anymore to MANAGE boot options. It uses Boot Configuration Data (BCD).
You can EDIT boot options, using bcedit command: http://www.pronetworks.org/forums/how-to-edit-the-windows-vista-boot-menu-options-t79102.html
But the easier option is to use free EasyBCD program: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1
At the above page, you can click on screenshots LINK, and see how that tool is easy to use.
