PC/ Acer Aspire ast180 UA350B/ 512mb memory/hard drive 160GB/C:drives Acer 70GB+ D: Data 70GB What is best ways to maintain my pc & hardrive?  Heres are few ways I use now or if I should these other methods as well! : after each pc  internet session I clean disc most unneeded files ; should I keep my PC on at all times or turn off after each session after I am through; I am wanting to add an extra 512mb memory & is it best to have same matching memory BRAND & specs as what being used precently in my PC?  If you have more PC & hard  drive care Please! feel free to add ANY input towards my PC education!If you can determine the brand of memory now installed and can find a source reasonably easy, then you might as well get more of that brand.  But, other brands should work fine, as long as you have the right type, i.e. same type and speed, memory.  Here's what Kingston shows for your system: Search Results for: Acer Aspire T180 Series

Regarding your question about shutting down, I normally shutdown EVERY night.  During the stand, I have my system set to go into Standby after a certain time of inactivity has elapsed, but you could also shutdown during the day if you know you're not going to be on the computer for SEVERAL hours or longer.
