Answer» how can i REMOVE file of unknown extention If you are SURE you don't need it, right click on it & select 'Delete'.Or you could OPEN the folder with the file in it, then click on 'Tools'> 'Folder OPTIONS'> 'View' tab> then scroll down and remove the tick from 'Hide extensions for known file types'. This will force all files to have their extensions show. At least you'll have a better idea if it is indeed unknown by your system. Beware though, if you leave it like this and you save a file, you have to add the '.doc, .xls, .ppt etc. at the end when typing the NAME or the system will not recognise the file type until you add it.
