How do I get rid of the shading underneath the icons on my desktop for Windows?Right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, click on the Advanced tab, click the Settings BUTTON under Performance, and under the Visual Effects tab place a checkmark in the BOX that says "Use drop SHADOWS for icon labels on the desktop.that did not work. should i change the color to the default grey (i think its grey) and then uncheck that box?You want that box CHECKED, Dave, not unchecked.
