I suspect that an incompatible program might have messed things up.I've fixed many a corrupted user profile without ever having to touch the registry via the method outlined.the corruption is at the Windows/system level so copying your personal data from the old profile to the new will not 'copy' the corruption.make sure to copy the usual culprits; DOCS, pics, music, videos, emails, favourites, contacts, desktop, browser profile.
