Solve : Help with installing Windows 98 on laptop?

Answer»

I found another problem. At "Device MANAGER" under "Display adapters" i see only "Standard PCI Graphics Adapters (VGA).When i click the properties options i see this notice : "This device is not working properly because IRQ Holder for PCI Steering is not working properly (Code 37) "
What does it mean ?Every ISSUE here points to the lack of motherboard drivers...do you have them for that laptop by chance ? ?No, i don't have any drivers. Do you know where i can find drivers for "Standard PCI Graphics Adapters (VGA)" ?You need the whole package of MBoard drivers for that MACHINE...visit the manufacturers site and check the Support section.
Make sure you specify Win98.I THING the problem is this IRQ Holder because i succeed to install some video drivers but always i get this massage in the properties window:"This device is not working properly because IRQ Holder for PCI Steering is not working properly (Code 31)".May be i must change some settings in BIOS but what exactly i don't know. My BIOS type is "Phoenix"You're not listening...
All these symptoms are related to the lack of correct MBoard drivers.Just in case if i'm getting some IRQ conflict what can i do about that ?One more question because i think i made some basic mistake. The name of the laptop motherboard is Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.,Ltd. CF-27-2 and the mother board chipset is Intel 82440BX/ZX(that is from "everest") .To fix my display problems i must find drivers for this chipset Intel 82440BX/ZX. Am i right or wrong ?Correct. How to install correctly the chipset drivers because the chipset is not listed in Device Manager?
It's a an .exe file.Double clik it...are you confident it's the right one ? ?I tried this drivers http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=129&OSFullName=Windows*+98+SE⟨=eng&strOSs=18&submit=Go%21
(the second end third) but noting changed and i couldn't find any other drivers for 440 chipset family at Intel site. Is that a this drivers what i needed or i must look for some others ?If i loaded the correct chipset drivers what can be the other problems for the display problems.
This is the devices in Device Manager to which i have yellow mark:

Other devices> PCI Multimadia Audio Device
PCMCIA socket>Ricoh RL/RB5C478 CardBus Controller;Ricoh RL/RB5C478 CardBus Controller

My big problem now is a video drivers. Before installing Windows 98 i had installed Windows XP on my laptop and i have 32 bit colors and higher resolution but now i have 16 bit colors and 640х480 resolution.Everest give me this information about the video:
for Windows video - Standard PCI Graphics Adaptor (VGA) and for PCI/AGP Video - NeoMagic NM2200 Magic Media256. I had downloaded this driver http://www.video-drivers.com/drivers/88/88088.htm
It was a an .rar file. I just uncompressed it but there was no .exe or setup file.I just COPY the folder to my hard disk and restart the computer but nothing happened.
How can i fix the problem with the 16 bit colors an this low resolution ?

I have to ask why the down-grade?
