Answer» Hi everyone. I have a Gateway MT3423 Notebook that seems to not be recognizing the operating system. The computer turns on but the only thing I can detect that works is the CD drive. I have no other LIGHTS and the MONITOR stays black. I tried hooking up another monitor to it and nothing. I tried a new power cord - nothing helps. I didn't buy the extended warranty and the year warranty PROVIDED by Gateway just expired. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is wrong? ThanksCan you try to see if the Hard Drive is connected properly? What Operating System?I have removed the hard drive and put it back in. I've TAKEN everything apart that I could get off. I couldn't get the back case off all thew way and was affraid to brake it. I'm using WINDOWS vista.Does any light appear when the lappy is plugged in to the mains power......is a green one..
