ploease help i am at the end of my tether

about 10 minuts ago i turned on my computer and it went throgh all of the USUAL formalities i.e. welcome screen with music and then it went onto my desktop but th thing is nothing came up the only thing on show was the wallpaper
so i did ctrl, alt, deleete and found that no applications were on show or running
so the only way to get onto my desktop was to go to ctrl alt delete and go to new taks and go onto my "C:\Documents and Settings\Jaspriya\Recent\Local Disk (C).lnk" that is the only way that i can now access my desktop

and when it did go onto my desktop at this pouint i can see all my programs a box COMES up with

"windows cannot find the file '/idlist,;568:2192,C:\"

please help im worried that next TIME i will noty be able to access my esktop EVEN through ctrl alt delete or itl crash

how can i get my comp back to normal i.e. after the welcome screen it goes str8 to my desktop with all my programs in sightReboot your computer and hit F8 after the BIOS screen, so the Boot options come up.
Select "Last Known Good Configuration".
