Answer»

Respected Sir,

I want to purchase a pc for study purpose. Plz recommend me WHETHER "Pentium D" best for me or Pentium "Dual Core" .

Your early response is hereby solicited. What are you going o study?
Does the educational instituter you attend have a recommendation?
Pentium is an INTEL product.
But now you can BUY Apple computers with Intel inside.

What? Pentium D and Pentium Dual Core are outdated.
The New Intel stuff is is the Intel Core i5 and Core i7

He did not say where he goes to school.
With an older Intel CPU the teachers will not
- give you the attention your deserve. Why not? Why do teachers snub students with older cpus? I've never heard of this. What kind of teacher would do this?

Besides, the op said he wants to purchase a pc for study purpose. It's not clear whether he means he wants to study the pc itself, or use the pc for studying school subjects.

Also, why is a macbook the best choice? That makes no sense to me. Quote from: JJ 3000 on December 22, 2010, 08:53:17 PM

I am with you here JJ. Plus the OP doesn't say they will be using the PC they just say they want one for study purposes so they could be buying a PC for a child to start doing home work and such on.It's useless even trying to understand HALF of the logic, if any, that go into many geek-9pm's posts. Can you only buy a computer locally?

Here are some models that might be available used.
Acer Aspire 5741Z Laptop,Intel Pentium Dual Core P6000
Dell Inspiron 15R,Dual Core 1860
HP COMPAQ MINI 700 ATOM DUAL CORE
TOSHIBA Equium P300 DualCore

The Atom is not a Pentium, but it would be suitable for a student. Quote from: Geek-9pm on December 23, 2010, 12:43:10 AM

thanks geek...your fervent response is hereby appreciated.   The very 1st important item you need to asses is what are your needs from the computer? More than likely depending on your course curriculum the software component may become more important than the computer itself. Also if you desire (need) portability to use it both at home and at school that may make a laptop your best purchase. Before you purchase anything define your needs. Only you can do that. truenorth Quote from: truenorth on December 23, 2010, 08:29:08 AM

Yes, that's most important.  For example, if your main purpose is to write papers for school, an older system such as a Pentium 4 will do the job quite well.  So, you could save money by buying a used computer.
