Answer» Hey can anyone help me? I have a compaq presario c500 and it was working fine untill i downloaded some "important" vista updates and restarted it. When the laptop was reloading, a messege kept on repeating on a black background: " For Realtek RTL8139(X)/8130/810X PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.13 (020326) PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM " I tried switching it off and back on but the same thing keeps on happening and tried to go on safe mode but when i pressed F8 nothing HAPPENED. I dont know what to do, can someone PLEASE get back to me asap if they can help meNo need for double post...I get a very similar message on my Toshiba laptop. I get the message ever since I changed the BOOT order of the devices on my laptop. I had recently reset the boot order to boot from the CD rom as the first device, then the hard drive. My cd rom is external and "clips" onto the bottom of the laptop -- it does not use a "normal" USB port plug in, but I know it uses the universal serial bus to connect to the computer. If the CD ROM is attached when I turn on the computer, the system checks the CD, and finding nothing in it, continues on to boot from the hard drive. If I don't have the CD drive attached, I get the error message once on a black background, and then the system goes on to boot from the hard drive. So, I do not have an exact answer for you, but as I say, when my system cannot access its CD / optical drive, that's when I get the error. |
