Answer» Hello members
I just shut myself out of the new installation on a new HDD. I have installed W2Kcomplete with all updates and started installing the network and work progs. My mouse is a optical intellimouse explorer3.0 and has 4 or 5 buttons. I had set one for delete and one for enter as I have on this HDD(which I need for the design prog). Now for some reson the delete wasn't working which I had also happen before so I had a look at the drivers and installed the "right" intellimouse explorer3.0 driver. I did a restart and that is it. I can't work with the key board either as that seems to be out aswell. I tried through safety mode, no chance either because through my network I have to enter a logon password and keyboard and mouse are not working. Has anyone an IDEA how I can get around this?? Any help is very much appreciated
Thanks
Luregn Have you tried using a PS/2 hard-wired mouse and keyboard temporarily?Luregn.....At what point did both the keyboard and mouse cease to function ? Are you sure you have the appropriate drivers installed ?
dl65 Hello
I have tried with placing the mouse at one usb port-no change. Hi dl65 I had the system up and running smoothly, just that not all the buttons on the mouse where working properly(that means; I had set one of the buttons for delete and one for enter and that was not going satisfactory) As said before it (the mouse problem, not the keyboard as well)happen on this system and managed to solve,as much as I can remember by downloading the right driver for W2K. Obviously I can't get in there??? LuregnLuregn..... Are you able to physically disconnect from your network ?........and then try booting up in safe mode ........then go into your DEVICE manager and look at both the keyboard and mouse and see if they require any additional drivers.
dl65 Thanks dl65 I will try that later in the day and get back. Could it be that by disconnecting physicaly from the network that I would not have to logon? Say if I then get in safe mode it will still be difficult if both(mouse and kb) are not working. Unfortunatly I started work and can't access right now as I have to place the new HDD in the compy box. So I will get back after trying later in the day.
Thanks
Luregn If this concerns a wireless mouse, try reconnecting it according to the manual's instructions.it is an optical but not wireless. Does that sound IMPOSSIBLE? L

Is the optical light on or off?
If it is off, try moving it to a different port or use an USB to PS/2 converter.
Be CERTAIN that you connected the mouse to the proper port (Green, not PURPLE)
