Solve : Help! Data error reading C?

Answer» HI There,
Tried to boot one of most important PCs today and *censored*. Get the message DATA ERROR READING DRIVE C / Abort, Retry , Fail
It is kinda old, circa 1999 Athlon 800 MHZ, and HD has been CHUGGING for a while now. Do you think its dead? I made sure the power and data plugs were seated well by taking off the case, tried to boot with a 3.5 and it does get me to DOS, but tried c: and it tells me INVALID DRIVE SPECIFICATION. Can anyone help me? George in Las Vegas"Do you think its dead?" Yup

Does the BIOS see the drive?

If you boot disk has FDISK on it, boot to the disk, run fdisk...DO NOT PARTITION IT

Hit #4 to view all partitions/ does it see it?

The other thing to try is pull the drive and hook it to a working computer / is it seen there?

Last to try is fdisk / mbr
