Answer» HI There, Tried to boot one of most important PCs today and *censored*. Get the message DATA ERROR READING DRIVE C / Abort, Retry , Fail It is kinda old, circa 1999 Athlon 800 MHZ, and HD has been CHUGGING for a while now. Do you think its dead? I made sure the power and data plugs were seated well by taking off the case, tried to boot with a 3.5 and it does get me to DOS, but tried c: and it tells me INVALID DRIVE SPECIFICATION. If you boot disk has FDISK on it, boot to the disk, run fdisk...DO NOT PARTITION IT Hit #4 to view all partitions/ does it see it? The other thing to try is pull the drive and hook it to a working computer / is it seen there? Last to try is fdisk / mbr Alan <>< |
