Solve : Help! 3 year old Toshiba Qosmio with "invalid partition table" error?

Answer»

I am a computer semi-illiterate & I'm not ashamed to admit it. I have a Toshiba Qosmio computer WHOSE warranty expired 4 days ago of course. Yesterday the laptop froze, GAVE a series of 6 clicks from what sounds like the lower right hand side (while facing it) and froze. I shut it down, waited 1 MINUTE and rebooted again. It starts to go the powering up then the 6 clicks start again. An error message pops up that say:

For Realtek RTL8111B/8111C Gigabit Ethernet Controller v.17 (080602)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Invalid partition table

I have no idea what this means. Is this hardware or software related? Is this fixable for not too much money? Is this laptop worth fixing? I hope so since I really can't afford a new one right now. Any help would be very much appreciated!Sounds likely that your hard drive has gone to hard-drive heaven or is not properly seated, I suspect the former.   The error message you describe is issued because the system tries to BOOT from an invalid device such as a network card.

See this link.. and this..

Good luck.
