Solve : Hard drive gone ?? Maybe.?

Answer»

Went to go on computer, this is what I saw..

Intel R-Boot Agent Intel 4.0.22
Client Mac Addr 00 02 55 45 03 E9
Guid 8E05413E-5DOA-2412-B373
DHP
PXE MOF-Exiting

(next screen)

1962 No operating system found'Press F1 to repeat boot

(then it just goes to like a Dos diagram, with little arrows)

Is my drive dead?    I would run a regular pc check and never did it show any indication something was wrong..I'm not great with them,  just know I can't even use keyboard to press F1 or anything else....any help???    Unless of course it is dead,  could a virus or anything make this happen???

thanks for all the help....
Joannesounds like a dead drive.........what make is it//and how old is it.......is it a laptop or pc.....Thanks for the quick reply.
I'ts a PC, IBM Netvista,  ALMOST 4 years old...I suppose if it's gone,  time for a new one..

So nice to have a quick reply,  thank you.
JoanneBefore you do.......can you HOLD down the f8. key on boot......and chose the last good config......worth a shot.....some drives can stand the heat generated from the case........things melt/crack up........have you valuable data on it............the one braincell i have is thinking!I did try that, and managed to use the default settings, but now I can't get in,  and no matter what,  the keyboard won't even work for me to move or choose anything....just a royal pain...if it's dead, do ya think that maybe just getting a new drive would be fine, or should I even dare risk it with the sytem that I have....?

Thanks,

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-52236It *did* have an operating system installed, correct?hold down the f1 or f2 key on boot...... chose default setup........save and exit it......and re-boot.....Thanks everyone,

And yes it had ME on it,  still can't access with the keyboard..lol   one more try and maybe I'll just toss it....LOL

Thanks for EVERYTHING...
Joannemake sure the num lock light is on the keyboard....Download or obtain diagnostic software from the HDD manufacturer and diagnose the HDD to see wheter it is failing or if another issue is causing it to malfunction.
