Answer»

???Greetings to you all. Just received the strangest window. Trying to play a game disc this message popped up every time  i closed tray . Message as follows: Guru Meditation Failure!
              Assertion Failed: "!strSecond.empty()"!
              File E:\_Cult\Source\clt_State.cpp
              Abnormal Termination
Select Retry for an environment dump

I must just add that drive E: ISMY cd-rw that ceased to function just a little while ago and now announce itself as inaccessible. wrong usage of terms. He meant to say 'Viruses'

Virus scanners
AVG Free
-- Anti virus scanner
Trend Micro Housecall
-- Online anti virus scanner.

Anti spy/malware
Microsoft Antispyware
-- Anti spyware scanner. Windows XP Home and Professional only.
Spybot Search & Destroy
-- Anti spyware scanner
Adaware SE Personal
-- Anti spyware scanner

Firewalls
Use both a HARDWARE and software firewall.
Be advised as dual software firewalls may cause problems

ZoneAlarm Free
-- Free firewall - more user friendly
Sygate Personal
-- Free firewall - more configuration options

Removal tools
The following files are not substitutes for the ones described above.
They are either diagnostic tools or removal tools for malware of a certain kind

HijackThis
-- Manual malware remover. Post the HijackThis log generated only if requested!
McAfee Stinger
-- Virus removal tool. No substitute for a fully functional virus scanner!
CWshredder
-- CoolWebSearch removal tool. Widely known and persistant Hijacker.cool, i'll remember that for future. have scanned computer with the following,

panda activescan
pandaspyxposer
trendmicro housecall,
norton,
adaware se personal
spybot s&d
non of these have found any virus although an adaware and a dialler turned up! SNEAKY bastards

still getting the message, so i need to repeat the scans but with system restore program disabled?

should not at least one of these progs found the virus or is it on the disk waiting to be activated?
one more question, whats the difference between a hardware firewall and a software firewall, and how do i tell the difference? ta. Quote

This odesn't really sound like a virus, more like an inaccessible file.

Can you try to play the game on another computer? Clean the CD first.

If you can remove it from your system, it is a software firewall.

If you can toss it around the room, it's a hardware firewall. (I.E: Router)i'll give the game a go and let you know. perfect explanation of firewalls
what anti virus system would you recommend to replace norton?
and what of the message reference to guru meditation Quote
