We've created Government Requests to show the number of government inquiries for information about USERS and requests to remove content from our SERVICES. We hope this step toward greater transparency will help in ongoing discussions about the appropriate scope and authority of government requests.

United States
We received a request from a local law enforcement agency to remove YouTube videos of police brutality, which we did not remove. Separately, we received requests from a different local law enforcement agency for removal of videos allegedly defaming law enforcement officials. We did not comply with those requests, which we have categorized in this Report as defamation requests.
The number of content removal requests we received increased by 70% compared to the previous reporting period.
The number of user data requests we received increased by 29% compared to the previous reporting period.

These reports show 'Western' countries asking Google to take down some material. What does this mean? Even the US and the UK have made recent requests to Google to remove some material. Why? Was the material really dangerous? Who MAKES the judgment? Why a 79 per cent increase?

Can somebody explain this?  Or should I not even think about this, just ignore it.

BTW: Have you ever had your Web site put non a black list? Or you e-mail address balled as FORBIDDEN or non-resistant? I have. No reason give and I have not way of knowing g if Google had anything to do with it. I don' think so. At least Google comes forward and gives a report about what is going on. What about the stuff we never hear about? Quote from: Geek-9pm on November 08, 2011, 02:34:16 AM

By google itself. Suddenly, my adsense ads stopped showing up, I tried to figure out why for hours, but the only conclusion was that they stopped serving the ads, usually as a result of a breach of their TOS. This is acceptable, but it would have  been nice to have been told they were doing this. The account was still ACTIVE and there were no messages or anything from google, but absolutely no advertisements showed up (and this was on separate machines and other peoples machines, so it's not adblock or something).
