Solve : Google Earth unresponsive to coordinates input?

Answer»

I have copied the coordinates from the bottom of a Google Earth display on another PC, into the G.E. search box on MY PC. I can not get G.E. to go to that location. How can I fix that ? Googlewebsite seems to provide NO option for asking it questions. It's likely the SYNTAX of the copied location...
I would try typing it in manually instead of copy/paste...I did type it in. Originally with out the ° symbol; but even when I added that, it would make no move. It has NO trouble going to places spelled out in letters. You don't need any spaces, commas or symbols.  In fact the degree, minutes and SECONDS symbols may cause problems if characters are used to display them which Google Earth doesn't understand.  This can happen with coordinates copied from some websites.

In your example jmharris4 you can use any of the following:
47° 42' 09.83"n, 10° 56' 19.47"e
47 42 09.83n, 10 56 19.47e
47 42 09.83n 10 56 19.47e

I hope it helps. I copied and pasted the last line of your coordinates, and GE DID respond, Puzzled why it would not respond to mine, unless it was because of the 'lat' and 'lon' which APPEARS at the bottom of the GE screen, which I had included. As mentioned in my post, degree, minutes and seconds symbols may cause problems. Or even in some versions, letters like d or n may also cause it to not recognize the coordinates. Glad you were ABLE to resolve the issue.
