Answer» I have this DVD with ALL my downloaded games on it. Suddenly one day my computer would not recognize it. I tried it on all 3 of my computers (2 x XP, 1 x Vista) and a friends computer (Vista). I go to "My Computer" and double click the DVD drive that the disc is in. A window opens but it is blank SHOWING no files. This is the same on all computers.
However I do have 1 Toshiba DVD player with a file browser feature. And this DVD player will display all my folders and games. So the data isn't ERASED, but just won't show up on my computer(s).
What can i do to recover my games? Any help? DLoad and install the Free trial of ISOBuster... Use it to extract the data BACK to the HDD... Check the datas integrity. If all is good re-burn it to DVD,No, ISO buster says Blank DVD. However i KNOW it is not blank.
Any other suggestions? ISOBuster finds data on DVD's that have not been finalised... If ISOBuster finds no files i would venture to guess there are indeed no files.Have you tried it in another computer or DVD drive?
Could be your DVD drive is faulty.I've tried 4 computers (2Vista, 2XP), and 6 DVD drives.
But the one DVD player did read the files. There are two programs that I know of that might help you.
One is Roadkil's Unstoppable Copy which will read off your DVD and try to recover data, you can read about and download it here: http://majorgeeks.com/Unstoppable_Copier_d2623.html
The other is Recuva, which can be found here: http://majorgeeks.com/Recuva_d5514.html
Both have worked for me before so I hope it works for you.http://www.tech-pro.net/cd-dvd-recovery.html
This is a paid software, but there is the try before you buy so another test to see if your disk actually has good data on it that has any remote possibility of being recovered.
