How do I get the IP of a computer, throughout the Computer Name?

One of the question was: "How do you get the IP number of a PC, knowing only the computer name.......!!

ping. routers don't care about node names.so its for homeworkWonder what book he is busing? The network commands in Windows are not the same as in a Unix system. Ping <COMPUTERNAME> will resolve the IP address for named systems on a LAN.
