Problem: some games cannot be played

for example: Gunbound...i dl this game and all is well until i try to play it...i try to open it but all that happens is that wait cursor and it doesnt start

example 2: game CD (Command and Conquer: Generals) - when i put it in the Cd drive and dvd drive i cannot ACCESS the drive... some other CDS work but not this one....also there should be an autorun but theres not

My other comp can play both these games

Possible explanations of problem: 1) FILTER (but the other comp has filter 2 and it can play both)
2) some sort of virus (antivirus or spyware detectors pick up NOTHING)
3) the computer hates me (but im such a loveable guy)

i need ur explanation and/or help....thank you
Plez Helpme....There is a number of reasons your games will run on one pc and not another......Do both of the pcs use the same operating system.....for example if the game was designed for win 95 or 98 it probably wont run on a pc with Win xp ......or perhaps the firewall is preventing the game from running if its a online game .....
So let us know

dl65  You downloaded the first game? I'll assume it's illegal.

As for your second game.. Is it a copied disk? You know the reason..To dl65:
Yes they have the same os- Windows XP

i downloaded off the GUNBOUND WEBSITE which is NOT ILLEGAL, thats the only way to get the friggin game

Windows XP SP 2 does not offer autorun anymore.

You say that some disks are read, but not all, do you run into more problems with this CD drive?No...the cd drive works fine and autorun still works on the games that it reads

Also "friggin" is not a bad word...but if it offended any1 i apologize and i will cease to use the termThe word friggin"  is not listed in the oxford dictionary we no what it means...but back to the ranch...have you tried the patches that maybe needed? never thought of that.every software that as emeged has to patched or downloaded..have you tried the compatibilty mode?definition of frigging

The first problem could be caused due to the game not being compatible with certain software on your system..

Have you tested C&C:G on a different system to see if disks are faulty?On my other computer with the same o/s both games work... and im positive my comp is compatible cuz i was able to play the first game b4 but i think it was after a filter was installed i couldnt play so i think Bsafe internet service has to do sumthin with it
Have you EVER installed another version of the game? Sometimes leftover files from previous games are in conflict with the ones you have now. (Saved games from other versions are also bad). Have any of those?
