Solve : Frustrating webcam/driver freezing issues...?

Answer»

Ok, first let me say I know some about computers, but I don't know computer lingo or codes or always where to find things so if anyone tryies to help me, please give me step by step in plain english. Secondly, let me say now I appreciate anyone's help and time. As for my computer, I have an HP running on XP Pro. I am 90% certain have all the Window's updates. I bought a philips webcam (SPC 200NC), tried installing via instructions it came with and by pluging it in and letting windows wizard take over following it's instructions. Let me add that any time I plug the camera in installed or not, it freezes my computer. I did the INSTALL, camera wouldn't work and still froze. I WENT to the website and installed the driver they had posted, no CHANGE. Called the company and did what they asked, no change. They told me to exchange Cam, did and same problem with new one. Personally I think it has SOMETHING to do with other drivers on my computer because when I turn my computer on, a comment pops up on the lower right saying something about not all drivers could be connected. I don't know which one's or how to find out or even if that's the cause. All I do know is I installed the camera as the instructions said and when I open the program it tells me no device is detected. Computer specs are:
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+, MMX 3DNow, ~2.4Ghz
Memory: 958 RAM
System Model: EL 466AA-ABA a1330n
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)

Like I said, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

:-/Is this camera plugged in via a USB cable ? ?
If so try it with all other USB devices unplugged...
Re-boot and re-install the drivers for it.
Does this change anything ? ?

patio. 8-)also go to device manafer and see if there are any ? or X or !! by any of the devicesQuote

Be q100% sure you have SP2 and all updates before proceeding.
