Solve : Firefox memory tip?

Answer»

While researching memory related issues in Firefox stumbled across a suggestion I CAME across that seemed to help (not solve) with the overall ISSUE that I thought I'd share since didn't see it posted in any past posts here.

In the Firefox Extensions (Tools / Add-ons) do the below two things

* Uninstall older Java Console's (should only have latest (6.0.18))
* Disable Java Quick Starter

This did help reduce overall memory usage and KEEP things more stable for when you have Firefox running for days. But still getting systems with a lot of memory usage.

I'm mostly curious to why SIMPLY having Firefox open on a standard web page with no extensions installed and not doing anything on that computer would increase the memory.

Feel free to share any tips you've come across.The Java Plugin is a major slowdown taking a few second longer (which is ages in my young EYES) per page, updating it helped a bit but disabling it is a major improvement, nice tip!
