Solve : File size (KB) variations.?

Answer»

I use Microsoft Works Word Processor to write records of my Family History and create a file in which to keep them. These pages of text are on average between 10 and 14 KB in size.

Sometimes I FIND it necessary to subsequently add or AMEND the information on these records - EITHER change a date or add a place name for example.
QUITE often when I "save" the changes made to the document I notice the 'file size' has jumped from about 11kb to say 69kb.
On other occasions I have added a sentence, or just half a dozen words, and the file size jumps to something daft like 228kb.

Can anyone tell me why? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in anticipation.
Jolyon. it DEPENDS on how to input the information.. if its bigger size different font bolded etc and how much you add..

each character is equal to one byte if it is not modified

unlovedwarriorSearch your program options for the wonderful "Quick Save"
dissable the quick save featrure so it doesent append to the file, it will recreate it with your text and formatting saving space, and making the files smaller (It wont really increse save time by much when enabled anyways)Quote

I have school. I would go into chat during school, but the firewall is WAY to secure...
I'll be back soon. I have to get my computers working again. (We've just started moving)
