Answer» Iv been having problems with my compaq presario 5000 since i got it and i wanted to try the factory reinstall to see if that would help but when i tried it and put the CD in and restarted it a blank blue screen came up. Any ideas?What is the error message? Did you insert the CD while the computer was running or boot with it? Have you changed any hardware, specifically the hard drive, since you got the machine. How about a detail or two?I think the hard drive was changed once by the PREVIOUS owner.Well it MAY be IMPOSSIBLE to do from a restore CD if there was a hidden partition on the original hard drive that is needed to do this. Many old Compaqs were this way. You may want to check with Compaq TECHNICAL support on their site. As you are not the registered original owner support may be limited, but try it and see.
