Answer» While Web pages are loadiing I often (usually) have a window pop up with a Windows error message:
Cannot load dialog. Error 623: The system could not FINE the PHONE book entry for this connection.
I've Googled it, and most references are to VPN issues (I don't have a VPN configured) or to phone book files needing to be PRESENT in Windows/system32/ras (I tried moving the .pbk file there--no luck) or to EMAIL accounts needing to be set to connect through my LAN (they are, but Outlook isn't involved at this point anyway, is it?).
Some sites load without triggering the error, most trigger it repeatedly. Macfixit.com PROBABLY resulted in 10+ such occurrences in Firefox, and failed to download in IE. Pages will not finish loading until the errors are all dismissed (if an error notification is in the background, it appears the browser has hung).
It occurs with Firefox and IE on Windows XP. Unticking Firefox's "Enable JavaScript" button eliminates the problem; the error occurs regardless of the actual JavaScript options that are set. Disabling Java in IE doesn't appear to make a difference, but I'm not sure yet.
For all I can tell, it has NOTHING to do with phone books.
Others have had this problem, according to what I see on Google, but I can't find any solutions posted. Anyone?
