The Philips-Lite-On DVD A DH16A1L is definitely dual layer capable. Often seen rebadged as HP. Many dual layer burners are fussy about brands of DL discs. My LG is one such. I only got reliable results with Verbatim discs which are more expensive. This may be why the question arose.
