Solve : Dual Channel Memory Question?

Answer»

Mobo: MSI
CPU: AMD64 3000+
Memory: 2x512 Off Brand - Dual Channel

I have 4 memory slots and was THINKING of adding another gig of ram.
I dont know to much about running ram in dual channel other then "it runs faster" so basicly what my question is...

If I was to add another 2x512 sticks of lets say kingston would it still be running it in dual channel with the other generic ram I have in there now? Or how does it work? Would all 4 sticks need to be exactly the same? Here's over a million explanations:

and thanks for the LINKS GX1_Mansorry model number is actually MS-7083

I understand now after READING through some of the stuff in the links provided. If I want to add more ram I basicly need to GET some Non-ECC Unregistered ram and if I have read right as long as the ram is DDR400 it will run dual channelIf it is dual channel RAM of the appropriate characteristics (not just speed) it will work. www.crucial.com can identify ALL of the characteristics you should consider, so you do not get incompatible RAM.

Most CONSUMER systems do not require and cannot use ECC RAM.

Congratulations on doing your homework before you buy!
