After a power outtage in my room, my computer starting freaking out (and it was plugged into a surge protector!).  Initially, after I turned it on, it would keep restarting itself.  I left it off for a few days, then started it up.  Now, under device MANAGER, I have no devices listed and I can't find any DRIVERS for any of my accessories!  I've tried running MSConfig a myriad of times to get them going again, but that didn't work.  The task bar is Windows 98 style and applications on the bar appear with a block, system font.  What can I do?!

I'm a college student and I need my FILES to survive!I am using Windows ME - I forgot to post that earlierCreate backups whilst you are still able to load Windows ME.is system restore enabled use that......System Restore seems to have been wiped clean - every time I start SR, the only restore point is the one of that day.

Other than backing up everything, what else can I do?  There has to be a way to get the drivers to work again!do you have any disks......??TYPE scanreg/fix.....in the msdos prompt.....or scanreg/restore.....and choose the last good cab file......First CREATE backups of the data that requires to be saved.

After that, format your Hard Disk Drive and reinstall Windows.
