Solve : Do I need to download the "new" Windows 10 add on??

Answer»

Microsoft has a new (some months old) PROGRAM(?) to download and run for you to get the better experience for Windows 10.  It will help my Cortana to be used better(?) and overall helpful for me.  Is this so?  I am not sure what it does (okay, you guys already know I am not computer savvy from previous posts over the years) and if I need it.  I keep telling the daily reminder to Just Snooze!  Should I install this on my computer?  Is it necessary?  And if not, how do I get rid of the daily reminder?  I don't like messing with my computer anymore than I need to as I would probably screw things up and make it worse and not be able to get out of my mess, and then I'd have to be on here again asking how to fix it!  Whew!
Sounds fishy to me...

Post the link from the popup.I think she may be referring to the Fall Creator's Update (1709) or even the previous Creator's Update (1703).I didn't get the notice today, but I will try to send it when it pops up again.  I don't know if it's an update or a new thing. I was assuming it was something new to enhance my "experience" with Cortana.  Apparently they think our "experiences" with Windows 10 is not enough...so they made Cortana better!!!???!!!
It could be as strollin stated above...to be safe though lets wait for the link...This item from Wikipedia has been recently update and has some 400 plus references about Windows 10 updates or related things.

The article goes on to name version 1709 as the current public version. An update was released on November 14, two days ago.Pay attention Geek...we wanna find out if it's legit or not 1st...

Everyone is AWARE there are updates out there.
It's also the latest scam / phishin method goin these days...if it's the box I've seen recently, it's legit.  although I don't recall there being a link, just a Accept or Decline sort of response.
BUT... if no link, a screenshot would be great before proceeding.Just a Few...Thanks Patio, That is a great link.
There are over a HUNDRED!

I had no idea. The last time the notice popped up it said something different.  Instead of "ask me later", it said "remind at a later date".  That's why I haven't had one of those pop-ups to send to all of you.  Just dawned on me...duh!  However, last night when I went to shut down my computer, I had options I have not been having.  It said either "Update and leave computer on", Update and turn computer off", or SLEEP.  I clicked Update and turn computer off.  I don't notice anything different today with the computer.  But if it comes up again, I'll let you guys know!  Thanks y'all!  (Yes, I'm from the South)

You guys are so good to me!!!
Hope it works fine for you...keep us posted.Sorry I haven't been back to update you guys on this as it hasn't been popping up any more until just earlier this week.  I TRIED to "snip"  (do you believe I know that?) to show you, copy it, and anything I could think of but when I do it just goes "clunk" and the only thing I can do is X out of it.  Here's what it says:

Newest Windows Feature Update - new features and apps -  may take longer than other updates to install on your computer.

Do it now         Pick a time         Sleep

I just keep making it sleep.

Oh yeah, it says my computer has to be restarted before and after this feature update.  So I'm afraid I don't know how to get you a picture of the blue screen it shows up on.  I just keep letting it sleep.

HEY  -  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!!!

and thanks for the help!

Debby
That is part of Windows Update, or at least it very much sounds like it.

I found this post about it, and it sounds like a very similar dialog box.

"Feature Updates" are larger version releases of Windows 10. Fundamentally it is the same as any other update, but as the message says it takes longer.

You do not strictly need to download it but you'll have to constantly deal with the prompt if you don't. There may be problems but it is impossible to predict whether you will have issues.
