Solve : Detection & removal of illegally installed spyware on my PC?

Answer»

I am pretty sure I have a problem here. All everyone seems to talk about is installing spyware to keep an eye on their kids. But what if you're the victim of spyware installed illegally for nefarious purposes? Can SOMEONE please help a non-technical person with this urgently? Many thanksQuote

Are you suspecting someone, you know, or are you talking about a spyware, you may get while surfing internet, installing some programs, etc?Hi there, am worried about stealth installation by someone I know. SAre you the owner of the computer?Yes, my computer is on the mini-network set up within my home office by my now-estranged husband. BTW why have my topics been moved and "locked"? What does "locked" mean?Your topic was moved from incorrect forum, "NETWORKING" to "Other", and it's not locked, since you can post.

Does your ex-husband still reside in the same house, and use another computer on the same network? Are computers set to share files? Can one computer can be accessed from another? He still has access to the office, set up the network in the first place & is network administrator. I have only recently learned how to password protect my computer which may have been too LATE. But with Network Administrator status does the password protection make any difference anyway?

BTW I asked about locking because both this topic & my other one "How do I know what network administrator can see?" have the locked symbol. I have explained the set-up as fully as I can in this latter post.Quote

This, I'm not sure of. Hopefully, someone with better knowledge in this subject will CHIME in.

I'll check for anything suspicious running on your computer.Hi, have done that. What happens now?? Thanks & rgds SG BTW please can you re-locate the question about how much Network Administrator can see, and whether Password Protection is any use to a less obscure board where its more likely someone who knows might see it?"How do I know what network administrator can see?"- I've never touch this topic, and it's still in "Networking" section.
You stll may post HJT log, but judging from the reply to your "networking" question, it may be pointless.Broni,

Please don't be hostile to me - I'm very scared and I don't understand what you mean or why you're saying this. My post was moved from Networking to "Other" and had a locked symbol on it! That's all. Rgds SWhy would I be hostile? What did I say to let you think so?
Your topic in "Networking" has a lock on it, because it was moved, so nobody can post THERE anymore, but the very same topic in "Other" is alive, and open for replies.

Someone replied in your other topic, that since your ex is system administrator, he can easily access your computer.
If that holds, he had no reason to install any spying software directly on your computer, and that's why checking your HJT log may be pointless.
You can post it anyway, and I'll take a look.Thank you - but do you mean I have to publicly post the HJT log? Is that safe? It feels a bit funny and exposed. Rgds SThere is no exposing in that log but if you feel unsure you could send it to Broni in a PM and i'm sure he would take a look at it that WAY...Hi Patio

Thanks for that. You are going to think I am unbelievably stupid but what is a PM? I have run the scan & saved the file....now what?
