Solve : desperate - can't access Windows XP? |
|
Answer» I think I removed something from my system during a RECENT clean out. Here's what happens, after windows xp starts up - I get the page where you have to click on a user name or click on the icon to shut down the system. When I click my user name (or anyone else's user name) it will say signing on and then seconds later it will say signing off.... so I am unable to access anything on my computer!!!!! When I went to safe mode operation -- the same problem occured. I'm in the middle of a huge project and I'm pretty desperate. Please help if you can --- thanks so much!!1. Before Windows XP loads, press F8 2. Select last known good configuration and press Enter. Are you the admin!!power user.My problem also exists in safe mode. When I tried last known configuration the problem did not go away. I tried last known configuration several times and the problem continues. As soon as the user logs on - it logs off and states "saving settings". I can't access windows xp at all........ I WONDER if I deleted something from my system or if I have a virus that is disabling my computer COMPLETELY!!!!When you log on......are you using the correct password?....did you change the password.?....see if this does it .......sometimes it works sometimes it does not .....when you see the logging screen hold down the shift key+enter key......keep tapping them......or you will have to go back into safe mode and setup a new user account....mm. I've never set a password on the computer. Also - I'm not able to do ANYTHING in safemode - because if when I try to open the administrator user - the same thing happens - logging on, logging off (within one second) and then saving settings. I have no idea how to set up a new user account in safe mode. Can you instruct? It WOULD have to be something I can do from the first MENU that appears after I press F8. Because once I get into safe mode with the screen with all my users -- I CAN DO NOTHING MORE.... I'm so frustrated. I appreciate your advice. thankshttp://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/106983.htmlthanks. I can't locate my windows xp cd - so i'm afraid I'm going to have to pay someone $200 dollars to restall and repair as you suggest from your attached website. thanks:-(It would be cheaper to buy a new copy of Windows XP..! |
