Answer» hey, I just changed my wallpaper and now for sum reason on my xp desktop i have a grey column bar on the side of my desktop which asks me what i want to do with the FILES. It is the same grey bar that appears on the left hand side of any folder you enter such as my documents in xp, and is in 3 catagories folder tasks, other places, details. You can CLOSE toolbars by pressing ALT + F4. You can also right click on the toolbar and select close toolbar Quote ...It is the same grey bar that appears on the left hand side of any folder you enter such as my documents in xp, and is in 3 catagories folder tasks, other places, details. ... Mark: You, or another user, have opened a folder and dragged the window to the right so that part of the folder is hidden. To close the folder, click the icon at the TOP of the partially hidden window and select Close from the drop-down menu. Regards, Doc Info on this is .....the POSTER has a tiny p/c in with was given has a gift for xmas.....and has been playing up since the install of it...and as its under warentry>i suggested to the user to take it back or phone for a field engineer to pay him/her a visit to rectifiy it or replace it........as there seems to be more problems than the user posted ...this is of course mhao!

Did you by any CHANCE drag the My Computer icon, or any other icon situated on the desktop, out of the screen?

You can CLOSE toolbars by pressing ALT + F4.
