Solve : dell latitude laptop - uk moving to canada?

Answer»

Hi, hope I'm in the right section . I've been living in Uk for 3 YEARS and own a dell latitude 610 laptop. i am wondering what adaptations i would need to use my laptop in canada, and if they would make it worthwhile TAKING with me INSTEAD of selling on and getting one there?? I've been all over internet and haven't found any help yet. Hope you can offer some help or direction. thanks Do you mean like electrical sockets?

FlameDomestic mains supply voltage is the first consideration. Canada/U.S. run on 110 volts not the 230/240 in the U.K.

Good luck

Most original power supplies sold with modern laptops will automatically detect and switch between 110 and 240 volts. Just read what's printed on the power supply. If it autodetects, all you need to do is change the plug (or use an ADAPTER).Thanks for your information.

the power supply is an original dell - it reads

INPUT 100-240v 15A 70w cont.

50-60hz 20v ac100v 3.5a 120va

I was also wondering about the telephone supply, is there any difference??

thanks again for your help

LauraYou'll be fine for power then. As for telephones, no idea. The worst that you'd need to do is buy a specifc modem card or a new telephone cable. I imagine this side of things is PRETTY standard though. Do you have a contact in Canada you can ask?
