Solve : Dell Laptop wont boot!? |
|
Answer» Hi, As far as I know - nothing! Could it be a virus? or faulty hardware? What have you done prior to the problem? Quote As far as I know - nothing! Could it be a virus? or faulty hardware? Caroll: It may be either cause, or something else. We need more information before we know for sure. First, see if you are able to start the computer in safe mode. When you power up your computer, immediately after it checks the memory and displays the devices (or while you see the Dell logo, but before you see the Windows logo) press the F8 key. When you see the start options menu, choose Safe Mode. Let us know if you are able to get to your Windows desktop in safe mode, or not. We will tell you what steps to take next. Regards, Doc Press F2 when you see the boot screen. THis will get you into the BIOS setup. What is there? The problem is that I never see a BOOT or any any other screen! The lines appear the instant the laptop is turned on.I don't suppose it's still under WARRANTY? :-/I am having the same problem and got it the same time you did!!It is 'just' out of warranty but I am anxious to know if it the LCD screen or the graphics card that is gone. The only recent change was flash BIOS upgrade to A14. Mo O'Brien - did you upgrade your BIOS recently also?No I did not upgrade the bios. I even tried swapping out the monitor because it seems as though it is working ok but the screen is not being DISPLAYED. You can hear windows starting up etc. It isn't the display. I believe my daughter downloaded from the internet right before. I did try to blindly hit enter and move the cursor around a little last night but didn't get very far. I will try again tonight. I am curious about the other execs that were recommended. How do I go about EXECUTING them when I don't see a prompt etc ??Have you answered your own question:? (carrollf101) The only recent change was flash BIOS upgrade to A14. Quote Have you answered your own question:? Good call, M_2. If the display problem OCCURRED immediately after flashing the BIOS, the upgrade is most likely the cause. |
