Solve : Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptop- DST failed?

Answer»

The computer was given to Me not working properly. So I put the reinstall CD in it,then when it got to the sect where You have to choose the partition, I chose the smallest amount of MB. So I am thinking that I chose the wrong one.
At boot I can choose several selections like, safe mode, last known good configeration, the it just sits there and loads or runs which ever is correct.A bit more INFO.

Your configuration indicates:  FR471   Hard Drive, 250G, Serial ATA 9.5, 5.4, SMSNG-M6
Looks like a Samsung 250GB SATA drive

You can buy a new 320GB drive for about $50.
