Answer» I frequently get 2 DCOM errors while shutting down. When I am shutting down, I hear the critical stop sound, and when I checked my event viewer I found these 2 errors,
The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the FILE specified.
DCOM got error "The service database is LOCKED. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{BA126AE5-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}
Is there any way to fix these DCOM errors, and if that is not possible through the forum goers KNOWLEDGE, is there any way to remove the critical stop sound (I have already tried to give the critical stop no sound, but upon shutdown it still ques the sound).It would help if you told us what OS you are using. However goto http://www.tech-forums.net/computer/topic/14960.html and browse there. Looks likely your soundcard driver causes the problem. GOOGLE for heaps more info.I recently Installed a new soundcard in addition to an old ONE. How do I get rid of it?I just disabled the other soundcard. If the DCOM errors go away then I know it's due to the second soundcard installation and I will remove it. Thanks.
Using Windows XP btw.
