It gives me five options to go to safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration........., and Start Windows Normally. When I move it to any one of these it freezes up on me. Can anyone please help. I have it set up next to my Dell and will wait for anyone to help me get it going again.Try booting to the Recovery Console and using - chkdsk /R - and see if it will come back to the desktop. You can add the command - fixboot - just for good measure, after you run chkdsk.Not sure about how to get to the recovery console please helpCheck your DELL documentation and see if you can use your DELL CD to boot directly to the Recovery Console. You may need to change the boot sequence in the Compaq. Or see if you can borrow an XP CD for this purpose.tried to use the cd from my dell but it still comes back to the same start up screen.
