Answer» :-[My teenage son has a compaq 6015us that has gone completely useless.whenever you try to start it up it starts off and freezes on a screen that states "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not ............. It gives me five options to go to safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration........., and Start Windows Normally. When I move it to any one of these it freezes up on me. Can anyone please help. I have it set up next to my Dell and will wait for anyone to help me get it going again.Try booting to the Recovery Console and using - chkdsk /R - and see if it will come back to the desktop. Not sure about how to get to the recovery console please help Installing and Using Recovery Console Perform a Repair Installation How to perform an in-place upgrade (REINSTALLATION) of Windows XPthank you so much for all the help I finally have the computer up and running. The only problem left is it will not turn off completely from windows. It keeps on restarting. I will look around to see if this problem was not addressed somewhere else in this forum. Again Thanks AgainI want to clarify what i had done. I used my xp reinstallation cd from my dell Now it doesnt have any SOUND , doesnt want to turn off in windows and keeps asking me to register. Looks like it I'm still having a few problems. Quote doesnt want to turn off in windows and keeps asking me to register Register or activate? just register. it is working OTHERWISE plus he is on line through my dsl modem. will this cause a problem for me?register onlyI would get his data OFF the drive pronto, and then do a clean install using HIS Compaq disks. Looks like you did a repair install instead of just using the Recovery Console.I'm sorry activate!!!!!he doesn't have any compaq disks. I can maybe buy them somewhere Quote I'm sorry activate!!!!! Activation is perfectly normal and must be done within 30 days otherwise you can no longer use your installation of Windows XP. |
